The Right Start – Puppies
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin
Good quality puppy classes are the most important lessons you can give your puppy. This is where they can acquire the critical life skills that dogs need to learn early on if they are to be able to cope in the big wide world. Early socialisation for your puppy is one of the best ways to help your dog learn and adapt to new experiences.
Our puppy classes aim to set you up for success by teaching appropriate behaviour and responses to avoid problems in the future. A thorough understanding of development and learning as well as breed specific tendencies and environmental influences will be brought into your tailor made puppy socialisation programme.
Early lessons will teach your puppy to sit, lie down, come, walk on a lead, leave, settle and stay using treats, toys, clickers and games with the emphasis on an enjoyable experience for puppies and handlers in a relaxed atmosphere.
A wide variety of topics are also covered such as:
- proprioception/body awareness
- house training
- development and critical periods
- bite inhibition
- manners in the home
- body language
- separations and reunions
- diet, treats and bones
- fear and phobias
- how to socialise your puppy
- greeting behaviour
- rewards (food, fun and functional)
- health checks
- equipment (leads, collars, treats, bedding, clicker, toys, etc)
